l am a hard working person who wants to pursue a career as a care worker as l enjoy helping people. l am mentally and physically fit and enjoy helping people with their rehabilitation or learning new skills to enable them to function better on their own.

l have a kind and caring nature and l will do what l can do to make a difference. l have good ideas of new activities and ways of encouraging group and individual tasks to help a client’s daily program. I have developed my communication skills and feel able to communicate with a number of different levels of people and feel that l am able to relate well to people requiring help and direction in their lives.

I have experience in getting clients up in the morning, making sure they attend their activities and appointments for physio etc. I help out in the kitchen and ensure that clients get adequate dietary requirements and when clients are in for respite period l help them prepare for returning to home and preparing meals and managing on their own initiative. I have also worked on a night shift period and l am flexible on working at different times of the day and night as required.

Due to current experiences of working with a range of people in hospitals I believe that my time on various work placements with people who are invalid and difficulties in helping them, along with the experiences gained throughout my studies, my wish to pursue a career in the care profession has grown.

To further my interest in working with and around people I completed courses in community based health care, advanced first aid and nurse aide. My part time job which is nurse aide helped develop my understanding of responsibility and has given me increased confidence also enabled me to act initiatively with dealing with unexpected problems and has helped to develop my communication skills . Working with patients has improved my interpersonal skills so that I can now work with clients who can be awkward sometimes without any problems.

As an individual I like keeping fit which I go jogging around the neighborhood, I also like listening to music and going out to church which provides me a different environment from home and work, this gives me an opportunity to make new friends and meet new people. I also in my part time help my boys with their homework or I sometimes learn from my mum how to sew clothes and do crotchet.

As an applicant, I will bring with me enthusiasm and motivation for this profession. My ethics background and cultural awareness should allow me to become and integrated yet individual member of an organization in an increasingly cosmopolitan society.
