Job Description

Key Responsibilities:-
Provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients in accordance with individual care plans.
Assist patients with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and maintaining personal hygiene.
Support patients with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and other activities of daily living.
Assist with eating and drinking and monitor nutritional and fluid intake where required.
Take and record basic observations such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate, subject to appropriate training and local requirements.
Support nurses and other healthcare professionals with routine clinical and non-clinical tasks.
Observe patients and promptly report any changes in their physical, emotional, or behavioural condition.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and care documentation.
Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
Support patients with appointments, activities, and rehabilitation programmes where appropriate.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
Respect patients’ dignity, privacy, confidentiality, cultural needs, and individual choices.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, manual handling, and organisational policies.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and escalate concerns to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Work effectively with nurses, doctors, therapists, support workers, families, and other members of the care team.

Essential Skills & Requirements:-
Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant, Support Worker, or in a similar healthcare/care environment is desirable.
Compassionate and respectful approach to patient care.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong observation and reporting skills.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Reliable, responsible, and flexible approach to work.
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Willingness to undertake mandatory training and ongoing professional development.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:-
Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, Healthcare, Nursing Support, or a related field.
Experience working in hospitals, care homes, nursing homes, supported living, or community healthcare settings.
Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, moving and handling, and basic life support.
Experience supporting elderly patients, individuals with disabilities, dementia, mental health needs, or complex care requirements.
