Registered Manager(Children) is required for care home. We have proudly operated for over 30 years in the adult care sector, running multiple nursing and mental health services across Derbyshire. We’re now expanding into children’s residential care with the same commitment to excellence, family values, and long-term development. We are seeking an exceptional Registered Manager to lead our children’s residential home and ensure the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and therapeutic support. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated, and experienced leader to shape a nurturing environment where children with emotional and behavioural needs can feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.

As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, day-to-day running, and regulatory compliance of the home. You will play a crucial role in building a stable, child-centred culture, supporting and inspiring your team, and ensuring that every child experiences consistent care, positive relationships, and meaningful outcomes.

We are looking for an individual with a strong track record in children’s residential services, excellent safeguarding knowledge, and the resilience, vision, and commitment needed to lead a high-performing Ofsted-regulated home.

Our newly refurbished two-bed EBD home in Derby (DE21) is now ready for Ofsted registration, offering an exciting opportunity to lead from the very start with full backing from an experienced senior team.

Dual Registered Manager – EBD Children’s Home (Derby, DE21)

Salary: £35,000 – £60,000 DOE
2-Bed EBD Residential Home | Dual Registration Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy / Registered Manager to join our growing team in Derby (DE21). You’ll play a key leadership role in managing a 2-bed Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) home, ensuring high-quality care, compliance with Ofsted, and positive outcomes for young people.

Requirements:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Children & Young People)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a children’s residential setting.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and managing a children’s home (Deputy or Manager level).
  • Experience working with Ofsted and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience managing EBD homes or similar provisions
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and inspection frameworks
  • Experience writing policies, procedures, and risk documentation
  • Confident leader able to coach, mentor and motivate teams
  • Proactive, resilient, and able to work autonomously
  • Genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted standards & safeguarding
  • Strong understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge including DSL responsibilities.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment, behaviour support, and child development.
  • Knowledge of multi-agency working and care planning.
  • Full UK driving licence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day operations in line with Ofsted and safeguarding requirements.
  • Provide effective leadership and overall management of the children’s home.
  • Ensure the home meets or exceeds Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Oversee staffing, training, supervision, and team development.
  • Maintain a child-centred culture that promotes safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and review of individualised care plans.
  • Promote trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Monitor progress, outcomes, and placement stability for each child.
  • Work in partnership with social workers, families, education providers, therapists, and external agencies.
  • Manage registration paperwork, compliance files, and inspection readiness.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and develop a stable and motivated staff team.
  • Ensure positive outcomes for young people with EBD.
  • Strong leadership, motivation, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Highly organised with effective time-management
  • Ability to handle complex safeguarding concerns
  • Maintain effective safeguarding and risk management practices
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities and external professionals
  • Continually drive quality improvement across the service
  • Safeguarding training at a senior level.
