Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and reliable Residential Care Assistants to provide high-quality, person-centred in-home care to individuals with diverse needs. The role involves supporting clients with daily living activities, personal care, mobility, and household tasks, while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients with personal care such as washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while always respecting privacy and individual preferences. You will also support with mobility, including the safe use of mobility aids, transfers, and gentle encouragement to remain active where appropriate.
Residential Care Assistants will also provide emotional support and companionship, follow individual care plans, monitor changes in clients’ health or behaviour, and communicate effectively with the wider care team. Residential care assistant may involve accompanying clients to appointments or community activities.Ideal candidates will have experience in care or a genuine desire to support others, along with strong communication skills, patience, and flexibility. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in residential care, home care, senior care, disability support, or a related health and social care setting. Duties
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Residential Care Assistants will provide specialised care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive impairments
- Support patients with medication administration following prescribed guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Manage behaviour challenges with patience and effective behaviour management techniques
- Drive clients to appointments or outings safely and responsibly
- Monitor health status and report any concerns to healthcare professionals or family members
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and any changes in condition
- Residential Care Assistants will perform light housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, long-term care, home & community care, or nursing home settings is highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory care needs is preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards is essential
- Proven ability to perform patient observation and monitoring in a compassionate manner
- Hands-on experience with medication administration, vital signs measurement, and use of mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts is advantageous
- Background in caregiving roles involving Alzheimer’s care or hospice care will be considered a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication skills with team members and clients alike
