Role Overview:
As a Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the café, supporting the Café Manager in day-to-day management, staff supervision, and providing excellent customer service. You will act as the second in command, stepping into leadership when needed and contributing to the overall success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Assist in the daily operations of the café, including opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in placing orders to maintain stock.
- Ensure adherence to food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Handle customer feedback, complaints, and resolve issues professionally.
- Oversee cash handling, till reconciliation, and banking procedures.
Team Supervision:
- Lead and motivate a team of baristas, kitchen staff, and floor staff.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and onboarding new team members.
- Plan and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
- Provide constructive feedback and support staff development.
Customer Experience:
- Ensure the café delivers a welcoming and high-quality customer experience.
- Oversee the presentation and quality of food and beverages.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction.
Business Development:
- Support the Café Manager in implementing promotional activities and initiatives.
- Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal specials.
- Monitor sales and performance metrics, providing reports to the Café Manager.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the hospitality or café industry.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (Food Safety Certificate preferred).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team effectively.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic knowledge of financial reporting and stock management.
