Position Title: Kitchen Assistant
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Location: Cambridge
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Temporary
Salary: £11.44 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the kitchen team in preparing ingredients for meals (e.g., washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, and measuring ingredients).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Ensure dishes, pots, and pans are cleaned promptly and stored correctly.
- Support in plating and presenting dishes as per established standards.
- Adhere to food hygiene and safety regulations at all times.
- Help with stock rotation and inform the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager of low inventory levels.
- Perform basic food preparation tasks under supervision, such as assembling salads, sandwiches, or desserts.
- Dispose of waste in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
- Respond to any additional tasks requested by the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to support smooth kitchen operations.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant or in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices (a Food Hygiene Certificate is a plus).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
